Ajax slipped to another defeat as they went down 2-0 at Groningen on Sunday (31st August).

Script:

After a home defeat for Ajax in the third week of the Eredivisie, the Champions travelled to Groningen....who themselves lost the previous week to Den Haag.

Ajax had the best chance of the first half following some desperate defending, the ball fell to Davy Klassen who just couldn't find his feet in time.

And the Champions would pay for that miss early in the second period.

Tjaronn Chery with the cross and a tap-in for Eric Botteghin. Frank de Boer will surely be wondering where his defensive line was.

The crucial second again came from the left flank. Chery again finding the head of Michael de Leeuw to complete a miserable week for Ajax.

Groningen move up to second with the win, while Ajax drop to seventh with a second loss in a week.
