  • Intro:

Post match reaction from Alan Pardew and Neil Warnock after Newcastle United and Crystal Palace shared six goals in a 3-3 draw at St James' Park in the English Premier League on Saturday (30th August).

    Script:

(English) Alan Pardew, Newcastle United coach:

(On conceding three goals and the referee's decision to add so much time at the end of the game)

"Well, of course we've conceded a goal after thirty seconds, we've conceded a goal just after half time... which is disappointing, but we've come back each time. We then take the lead and get ourselves in a position (to win the game)... but you know, two factors really. One, I thought we got a little bit carried away when we took the lead and at this level you can't do that. You have got to make sure you see the victory out and we should have been better set before we conceded the free kick (for the equalising goal at 3-3) for the goal. And secondly, for the spirit of the game, I thought the referee was... I don't know... I think when a team comes here and wastes time from the moment the game kicks off, from goal kicks and time and time again they took ages on everything and the they are 3-2 down and he (the referee, Mike Jones) gives them seven minutes. I don't know, I just... it didn't fit right for me and I suppose he could just go 'the letter of the law' and al that, but... I don't know, in the spirit of the game I just thought that was... wrong."
