Bayern Munich are held to a 1-1 draw at Schalke as Bayer Leverkusen beat Hertha Berlin 4-2 to become the last team in the Bundesliga to maintain a 100 per cent record.

    Script:

Bayern Munich travelled to Schalke with new signing Xabi Alonso in the starting eleven and the champions dominated from the start, opening the scoring in the tenth minute with Robert Lewandowski first league goal for his new club.

However, Bayern failed to add to their tally and the home side grabbed an equaliser just after the hour.

Sidney Sam swung over a free kick, the Bayern defence couldn't deal with it and the ball ended up in the net.

Bayern appealed for handball off Benedikt Howedes and the Schalke skipper's arm did play a part, but referee Marco Fritz decided that Alonso's attempted clearance struck Howedes accidentally and the goal stood.

Bayern's draw means Bayer Leverkusen are the only side to maintain a 100 per cent start with a 4-2 win over Hertha Berlin.

Leverkusen came from behind after Croatian Tin Jedvaj put through his own net in the 24th minute.

Jedvaj would make amends in the second half, levelling the score after getting on the end of Gonzalo Castro's pass five minutes after the restart.

Against the run of play, the visitors took the lead again on the hour mark. Julian Schieber put in an easy header for his third goal of the season.

Leverkusen were back on terms two minutes later thanks to Bosnian defender Emir Spahic.

Julian Brandt put the home side in front for the first time in the game in the 74th mniute and Karim Bellarabi secured the points with a perfectly-executed vollry to give Bayer Leverkusen a 4-2 win.
