Spartak shock CSKA

  • Intro:

Spartak cause a surprise in a Moscow derby by defeating Russian Premier League champions CSKA 1-0.

    Script:

Russia may be at loggerheads with the west but Moscow witnessed a battle of the football variety on Sunday when city rivals CSKA hosted Spartak.

CSKA's Alan Dzagoev almost broke the deadlock but Artem Rebrov recovered from his earlier mistake.

In the second half, Spartak central midfielder Kim Källström rattled the crossbar. CSKA's captain wasn't happy with the mix-up between Pontus Wernbloom and Vasiliy Berezutski.

Akinfeev's mood didn't get any better when he brought down right-back Sergei Parshivlyuk.

Akinfeev escaped without a booking but the Europa League winner couldn't escape from conceding the opening the goal after left-back Dmitri Kombarov's first goal this season.

CSKA's Kirill Nababkin was then booked for an agricultural challenge on Spartak substitute Denis Davydov.

Parshivlyuk wasn't happy with the tackle and referee Vladislav Bezborodov showed the 25-year-old and Nababkin their second yellow cards. Fight they might but 1-0 to Spartak it finished.
