Emily Scarratt scores 16 points as England beat c 21-9 to end a run of three final defeats.

    Script:

A fourth consecutive World Cup final for England's women, and a chance to shake off their runners up tag, they had lost in the last three to New Zealand. Canada stood in their way this time, a side who had never reached this stage before.

Some quick thinking from Natasha Hunt looked to have given England an early try but the replays showed she came up just short.

Emily Scarratt kicked two first half penalties to put England six up before they crossed for the first time. A dummy from Tamara Taylor saw England break through the game line she sent the ball on to Maggie Alphonsi who set up Danielle Waterman to finish.

Scarratt failed to add the extras but England were in control.

Women's player of the year Magali Harvey was doing her best to drag Canada back into it, three kicks from her saw the lead cut to just two points.

Scarratt kicked a penalty to put England five up once again and then did this...

She also kicked her the conversion and so scored 16 of England's 21 points.

That meant captain Katy McLean could lift the trophy.

For the first time in 20 years England Women have won the Rugby World Cup.
