With PSV putting six past Breda yesterday, the pressure was on Frank de Boer's Ajax to reclaim top spot by beating AZ on Sunday.

The Eredivisie champions made a dream start when Lasse Schone played in Davy Klaassen for his first goal this season.

Former Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink watched on as AZ right winger Steven Berghuis equalised after the break. Ajax were singing the blues.

Schone managed to keep the ball in. The Denmark playmaker then played a one-two with Daley Blind, dodged three challenges and found the bottom corner to keep the metaphorical dark clouds at bay.

19-year-old substitute Anwar El Ghazi then sent a vuurwerk of a shot flying into the top corner to round off an impressive attacking display and cap a 3-1 victory.

The Amsterdammers are now only second in the table on goal difference. They face off against title-rivals PSV in their next league match at the Amsterdam Arena next Sunday.
