  • Intro:

St Gallen beat FC Basel 2-0 to end their 100% record in the Swiss Super League on Thursday

    Script:

Basel went into their match with St Gallen off the back of four wins in a row but the Swiss Champions could not add to the 12 goals they had already scored in the Swiss Super League.

Instead it was St Gallen who looked more dangerous in front of goal and midway through the first half the visitors went close through Roberto Rodriguez.

The first half looked like it was heading for a stalemate but as half time approached St Gallen scored twice in four minutes.

Albert Bunjaku getting both goals as the Kosovan gave St Gallen a two goal cushion at half time.

After the re-start he nearly made it three.

But his effort was straight at Czech goalkeeper Tomas Vaklic denying him his hat-trick.

New signing Yoichiro Kakitani has Basel's best chance to score but the Japan international would not get his second goal of the season.

Giovanni-Guy Yann Gio was also guilty of missing a great opportunity to get Basel back in the game - he had only the keeper to beat. but fluffed his lines as St Gallen came away with a 2-0 victory.
