  • Intro:

Manchester United players took some time out of their pre-season tour of North America and drove around Beverley Hills on Tuesday (22nd July).

    Script:

Some of the Manchester United squad, including Wayne Rooney and Darren Flethcher got behind the wheel to tour Beverley Hills on Tuesday as part of their pre-season in the USA.

However star striker Rooney didn't seem to phased about the car he was driving:

SOUNDBITE: (English) Wayne Rooney, Manchester United forward
(Q: How does it feel to be driving around Beverley Hills and which car did you drive?)

"We drove the Camaro, so it's a really nice car. I've got one back home, so I'm used to it."

But how would he cope with a fire engine?

The squad signed footballs outside a fire station and posed for photographs in their new home shirt.

Despite the squad's activities, United manager Louis van Gaal has criticised Manchester United's pre-season tour schedule of the United States and said "commercial activities" were responsible for the amount of travel.

United's first match of their tour takes place on Wednesday against Los Angeles Galaxy at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, followed by a game against Italian side Roma three days later in Denver.

United will then face Inter Milan in Washington, DC on July 30th, followed by Real Madrid in Detroit on August 2nd.
