Real Madrid have signed World Cup Golden Boot winner James Rodriguez from French league club Monaco.

The 23-year-old Colombian international finished top scorer at the 2014 FIFA World Cup with six goals, as his side reached the quarter-finals.

After a medical at the Bernabeu on Tuesday, he completed his move to the current UEFA Champions League holders.

For a reported fee of about 80 million Euros (£63m) making Rodriguez the fourth most expensive transfer of all time after Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez.

Sports newspaper Marca, traditionally very close to Madrid's boardroom, said Rodriguez is to be presented to fans later on Tuesday.

Marca also added that the player would join the squad on the first day of August.

Madrid have already signed Germany midfielder Toni Kroos for next season.

Both Kroos and Rodriguez could both make their full debuts in the UEFA Super Cup against Sevilla in Cardiff on the 12th of August.
