A land artist who lives near Verona in northern Italy carved up 24,000 thousand square metres of field to sketch out the World Cup trophy.

Dario Gambarin's picture of world football's perennial prize is 160 metres long.

Using a medium-sized red tractor, Gambarin drove back and forth, twisting and turning around the field to create a replica of the trophy.

Piles of dirt were pushed up and helped form the lines in the field depicting the trophy and the letters that spell Germany. The Deutsche Fussball-Bund have reaped the rewards of their 10-year transformation of its youth-development structure.

The Nationalmannschaft won the 2014 World Cup final in Rio on Sunday after 22-year-old Mario Götze's extra-time winner beat Argentina in the Maracanã.

It's the fourth time Germany have lifted the golden trophy and the first time in 24 years.

Joachim Löw's men also became the first European team to win a World Cup in the Americas.
