The fallout from Nigeria's exit from the World Cup continues with FIFA threatening a ban after leaders of the country's football federation were removed from office and its president arrested on return from Brazil.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE (English) Tammy Danagogo, Nigeria Sports minister:

"We will do our best to let FIFA know that there is no government interference, government does not intend to interfere and I can assure you I will not interfere beyond doing what is needful statutorily by FIFA rules, beyond ensuring that there is a peaceful atmosphere."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Obinna Ogba, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) delegate:

"We have not faulted the FIFA status... so its only when we fault the status of FIFA that they will ban us and again don't forget that in as much we respect the FIFA's law, we can not jettison our own law here because our own football here have our own status."

SOUNDBITE (English) Obinna Ogba, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) delegate:

"The congress has not actually probed the NFF to be able to know how much was giving to them and how much was spent, but I and you and the congress are aware that there is crisis in the camp, and that crisis borders on finance."
