    Brazil's team doctor says Neymar will miss the rest of the World Cup after breaking a vertebrae during the team's quarter-final win over Colombia.

    Brazil's star striker Neymar is out of the rest of the World Cup due to an injury sustained in Brazil's win over Colombia.

    The 22 year old left hospital in Fortaleza on Friday on a stretcher following medical examinations.

    The player fractured a vertebrae in his back earlier on Friday according to team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar, after he was kneed in the back by Colombia defender Juan Camilo Zuniga.

    Neymar is Brazil's biggest star and has scored four goals for the team so far in the tournament.

    Fans gathered on Friday night outside the hospital where Neymar was having his examination, but the wouldn't hear any good news.

    Brazil face Germany in the semi-finals on Tuesday, and in addition to the absence of Neymar, will play without team captain Thiago Silva, who got a second yellow card in the clash with Colombia.
