Netherlands midfielder Nigel de Jong insisted on Friday that his team "should not underestimate" Costa Rica in the 2014 FIFA World Cup quarter-finals on Saturday, while coach Louis van Gaal said that although the goal was to be world champions, his side are "not a fantastic team but we are a team that is very difficult to beat."

SOUNDBITE: (Dutch) Nigel de Jong, Netherlands midfielder:

(On whether Netherlands might underestimate Costa Rica)

"We should not underestimate Costa Rica, but in any case I think it is going to be a very tough match, the coach said that himself just now, so we should not underestimate them and we should start the match with every confidence possible. Costa Rica have qualified, and that's not for nothing, they did that with a lot of passion and a lot of belief and faith and of course they play without pressure, so we should not take them too lightly, we should not underestimate them, particularly a country such as Costa Rica."

SOUNDBITE: (Dutch) Louis van Gaal, Netherlands coach:

(On whether there is more pressure on the Dutch players because they are the favourites to reach the semi-finals)

"I may have some news for you, the Dutch media hadn't expected that we'd get this far either. So everything we're achieving here should be fantastic for the Dutch media, but that's not the issue. The issue here is what our own objective is. Now our goal has always been to become World Champions and we have always said, we, our team, that it's very difficult to beat. We're not a fantastic team but we are a team that are very difficult to beat. Now so far we've shown that and I hope that we can keep that up, up to and including the final."
