  • Intro:

Thousands of Argentina fans watched their World Cup Round of 16 match against Switzerland on a big screen in Buenos Aires.

    Script:

Thousands of fans gathered in Buenos Aires to watch Argentina's World Cup Round of 16 match against Switzerland on a big screen. There was no lack of passion here but there was a lack of inspiration on the pitch, it was 0-0 and the game headed into extra-time.

It was tense, really tense. They expected to win this match but now their World Cup hopes were on a knife edge.

So this is was the reaction when Angel di Maria put them in front...

There was as much relief here as there was joy.

SOUNDBITE (Spanish): Pablo Cabaleiro, Argentine supporter:

"This is what we wanted. What a suffering, my God"
Next up for Argentina is Belgium in the quarter-finals, a side with a wealth of talent that will surely make for another nervy 90 or 120 minutes.
