Argentina fans on the road to Sao Paulo

Tuesday, July 01 2014 by SNTV
  • Intro:

Argentina fans are making the road to Sao Paulo as they prepare to face Switzerland in their round of 16 clash.

    Script:

With Argentina a short road trip away from Brazil, it's been no surprise to see the country's cities awash with Albiceleste fans.

The convoy now heads to Sao Paulo where Switzerland are the next opponents.

And as well as perhaps the world's most gifted footballer, the Argentines also believe that divine influence will carry them through to the quarter-finals and beyond.

SOUNDBITE (Spanish) Jose Alberto Bricio, Argentina fan:

"We have the best striker in the world, Messi (Lionel Messi), and from there everyone is also very good; and we have Francisco (Pope Francis), who will help us."

World champions in 1978 and 1986, Argentina are chasing their third World Cup title.

And their fans are convinced that now is the time to end that wait.

SOUNDBITE (Spanish) Mariano Bellotti, Argentina fan:

"It is the dream of seeing Argentina winning the World Cup. It is a world party, with people from all over the world."

Should they beat the Swiss, then Brasilia will be the next stop for a quarter-final meeting with Belgium or the USA.
