  • Intro:

Australia were put through a final session at their training base in Vitoria on Saturday (21 June) before they close out their World Cup account against Spain.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE (English) Mathew Leckie, Australian attacker (On his strong performances in the World Cup so far):

"The way we've played over the last two games has been great and some of the best football the country has played in a long time and that's definitely helped me as well. I've taken that opportunity when I've had to in these two games and hopefully I can put a good performance in against Spain as well and if we can get a result, and hopefully win, we've taken a lot out of this World Cup."

SOUNDBITE (English) Mathew Leckie, Australian attacker (On the prospect of being moved into a central role with Tim Cahill suspended):

"We haven't discussed that at all. I'm sure the coaches and the staff have discussed that themselves, but nobody knows that yet. I've been successful on the wing there, so whether Ange (Postecoglou) wants me to play in the middle or on the side, I'll be happy with both. Playing as a striker you get those chances on goal as you see Timmy (Cahill) has and he's been very (clinical) in putting those chances away."
