How fans watched England's defeat to Uruguay

Friday, June 20 2014 by SNTV
  • Intro:

Uruguay fans celebrated in Montevideo as hundreds of England fans got soaked watching on big screens at the soggy fanzone in Rio.

    Script:

It fair to say fans watching on big screens Uruguay's captial Montevideo enjoyed Luis Suarez scoring against England.

And they especially took joy from his late winner...

For some though, it was all too much...

Tears are what you might expect from these England fans watching in Rio. Not only did they have to watch a 2-1 defeat but they also got soaked in the rain. More Carlisle than Copacabana.

At least it was dry in Sao Paulo but England fans were no less disappointed.

SOUNDBITE (English) Barry (no last name given), England fan:

"To be honest with you, I think you know, I think it's time that England got a look at the older players. We are not good enough. We don't retain the ball good enough and I think it's time to move on. New manager."

Roy Hodgson needs Italy to beat Costa Rica and then Uruguay if his side are to have any chance of going through.
