Ochoa and Mexico train following Brazil draw

  • Intro:

Goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa and the rest of the Mexico squad train at the rainy seaside resort of Santos in Brazil on Thursday (19th June), ahead of Monday's crucial Group A clash against Croatia in the FIFA World Cup.

    Script:

Mexico's path to the World Cup in Brazil was one of the country's most difficult in quite some time.

In fact, El Tri risked not making it to the World Cup, only qualifying through a playoff against New Zealand.

However, the Mexican team have proved a difficult side in the tournament so far, securing a 1-0 win against Cameroon in their opening fixture.

They followed that with a 0-0 draw against tournament hosts Brazil.

Mexico have since returned to their team base in Santos, with Guillermo Ochoa the star of the show following his man of the match performance against la Selecao.

The goalkeeper, currently out of contract after his deal with Ajaccio in France expired, should have plenty of suitors come the end of the World Cup.

Ochoa will celebrate is birthday on 13th July - the same day as the World Cup final, and while he would certainly like an appearance in the final as a present, a new contract would probably be equally welcome.

Coach Miguel Herrera oversaw a rainy training session on a waterlogged pitch.

Javier Hernandez was also present but is yet to start a game at this World Cup.

Mexico face Croatia in Recife on Monday knowing that a draw will be enough to see them qualify for the second round
