Christine Ohuruogu suffers nightmare return to the track

    David Rudisha won in men's 800 metres, while Yohan Blake finished a disappointing second in the 100 metres and Christine Ohuruogu disappointed on her 400 metres return at the IAAF Diamond League meet in New York on Saturday (14 June).

    Round 6 of athletics' Diamond League moved onto New York on Saturday.

    Olympic 800 metres champion David Rudisha claimed another victory.

    The Kenyan world record holder's came home in a time of 1:44.63, comfortably beating the rest of the field.

    Yet his time was almost a whole four seconds off his World Record he set at London 2012.

    Starting in lane 5, Jamaica's Yohan Blake finished in second behind compatriot Nesta Carter.

    It was a disappointing finish for Blake, who would have expected to win with Usain Bolt absent with a foot injury.

    Christine Ohurougu's return to the women's 400 metres was one she won't cherish. The British athlete ending the race in eighth place, some three seconds behind Francena McCorory, who won with a time of 50.15 seconds.

    Warren Weir won the men's 200 metres, claiming another sprint victory for Jamaica in the process.

    Weir's time of 19.82 was a world leading time - the fastest of the season.

    Round 7 moves onto Lausanne in Switzerland next month.
