Croatian fans watched their team suffer a 3-1 loss against hosts Brazil in the opening match of the 2014 FIFA World Cup on Thursday in Zagreb (12th June).

Despite taking the lead following Marcelo's first half own goal, a brace from Neymar and a stoppage time effort from Oscar saw the South Americans triumph.

SOUNDBITE (Croatian) Filip Sokac, Croatian fan:

"Congratulations to the guys they were very good. We lost, but oh my God, this should be motivation for them to win."

SOUNDBITE (Croatian) Mate Balota, Croatian fan:

"Second half we let them play, we did not play our game. We surrendered to them, did not have our tempo, they ran the game and that is it."

SOUNDBITE (Croatian) Ivan Simeg, Croatian fan:

"What can I say, it was the referee, the penalty that affected the game. We did not have any luck, that is always the case with us, we do not have luck in sports."
