Manaus
One of the probably most fascinating cities for Brazilians and most intriguing for foreigners is Manaus.
This vast metropolis is located at the heart of the Amazon rainforest, where the Negro and Solimoes rivers meet. It is the 12th most populous city in Brazil with almost 2 million inhabitants.
Although 'jungle city' comes to mind, it is more than that. It became one of the country's economic powerhouses, after the construction of its Industrial heartland.
Between June-December is Manaus's dry season with temperatures reaching 40c.
England take on Italy in the first of four group games in Manaus.
Sao Paulo
Game day two for England sees them play in Sao Paulo, the largest city in Brazil and seventh largest in the world by population.
Hosting six matches, the city has the opening match between Brazil and Croatia.
Sao Paulo is the financial and business hub of Brazil.
Sixty-four years ago, it also hosted matches at the 1950 World Cup.
Belo Horizonte
England's final group match is in the city of Belo Horizonte in Brazil's third largest metropolitan region.
With 4.8 million inhabitants, the capital of Minas Gerais State is also one of the country's main business tourist destinations.
It was founded in 1897 as the first ever planned city in Brazil.
Belo Horizonte means "beautiful horizon" in Portuguese.
The city was one of the first Brazilian cities to be ready for the World Cup, in December 2012. At that time, while visiting the city for an inspection, FIFA Secretary General stated that "Belo Horizonte is number one, Belo Horizonte is the best."
England will be hoping come June 24 that they're one of the best two in Group D.
