Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan admitted as his team arrived in Brazil, that they were "underdogs", but added "we always prove people wrong."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Asamoah Gyan, Ghana captain:

"Expectation back home is high, everybody wants us to make sure we prove ourselves once again in the World Cup. You know we have been rated as underdogs in the group, you know, which we are happy about it. For the past, for eight years we've been rated (as) underdogs but we always prove people wrong you know, but this time we don't know what is going to happen and we are just waiting for the first game.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Asamoah Gyan, Ghana captain:

"Yeah, they are favourites and we are happy to be underdogs as I said earlier, you know, footballers don't come with names anymore now it depends how you going to just be on the field and then play as a team. It's not about individuals and I think our strongest point is the unity in camp you know so we've got confidence we can achieve our aim in this year's World Cup."

Q: "And how crucial is that first game against the United States?"

"Yeah is going to be like a revenge thing for the United States because we beat United States in 2006, we beat them in 2010 and then once again we are playing them in the first game and then every first game of the competition everybody keep focussed and nervous so its going to make the game very very interesting so we're just hoping for that."

"For now we are taking game by game, you know, one game by each other, you know, make sure we qualify from the group stage before we think ahead. For now I think the group stage is the most important thing now so we just making sure we concentrate on the group stage and make sure we qualify to the next stage."
