Fans invaded the pitch at the end of Argentina's training session in Belo Horizonte on Wednesday.

Brazil and Argentina have one of the world's fiercest rivalries. So when Lionel Messi and his teammates held an open training session, they may have been expecting a hostile reception.

But one Brazilian put that rivalry to one side as he invaded the pitch. He just wanted to show his appreciation to the four-time Ballon d'or winner by shining his boots.

Luckily Messi found the incident funny and gave the lucky fan a hug and his training top.

And it wasn't just him who wanted to watch Argentina train in the Independencia stadium

After cueing for hours to get free tickets, some 10,000 watched the session, many of them in Argentina shirts.

And amazingly the majority seemed to be local residents who, at least temporarily, had switched allegiances.

No doubt that will change when the tournament starts.

But they were able to watch Messi, Sergio Aguero, Pablo Zabaleta and co put through their faces.

Argentina begin their World Cup campaign against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Rio on Sunday.
