African champions arrive in Brazil

Thursday, June 12 2014 by SNTV
  • Intro:

Nigeria arrived in Brazil on Tuesday (June 10), looking to find the sort of form that saw them crowned African Cup of Nations champions a a year ago.

    Script:

Nigeria touched down for the World Cup as scheduled in Sao Paulo on Tuesday after completing their pre-tournament camp in the United States.

The African champions will play Iran in their opening game in Group F in Curitiba on Monday, before coming up against Bosnia-Herzegovina and the much fancied Argentina.

Their head coach Stephen Keshi will be delighted to have five days at his disposal to get his squad ready at their base in the city of Campinas.

A year ago, the Super Eagles arrived in Brazil three days late for the Confederations Cup and in disarray after a player strike over bonuses caused delays and chaos.

Keshi's side haven't been in the best form of late - only managing draws with Scotland and Greece and suffering defeat to the United States in their warm-up games.

However, as their fine African Cup of Nations triumph a year ago shows - when in the mood, Nigeria can be a dangerous opponent for anyone.
