  • Intro:

There are concerns over the readiness of the Sao Paulo stadium ahead of it hosting the opening World Cup match.

    Script:

The fans have started to arrive but with just one day to go until the World Cup, there are concerns about the readiness of the stadium that will host the opening game in Sao Paulo.

These shots were filmed on Tuesday and show the minor construction work that is still taking place on pavements, a helipad and the metro station.

They also seem to have abandoned this drainage system.

Some of the workers have admitted defeat...

SOUNDBITE (Portuguese) Cidiney Silva, Construction worker at Itaquerao stadium:

"To my view, Brazil still has a long way to go in order to organise a World Cup. Too many things where projected wrong. There are a lot of details still to be completed (on stadium). Honestly, too many things were badly organised."

We can not see inside the brand new stadium here but we do know that it would not get a safety certificate in the United Kingdom. That's because it has not been tested at full capacity, there was a junior game held here but the fire department refused to approve a temporary seating area of around 20,000 seats.

The first time it will be tested at full capacity, 600 million people will be watching around the World as Brazil take on Croatia on Thursday.
