The final preparations are being made for security at the World Cup in Brazil.
The relative calm of Copacabana beach is a far cry from the clashes between protesters and police that marred last year's confederations cup and authorities here are confident that the tournament will run smoothly.
SOUNDBITE (Portuguese) Roberto Alzir, Undersecretary for Big Events, Security Department of Rio de Janeiro State:
"We believe that what we faced here in June (2013) with around 800,000, almost one million people, will not repeat itself, because the movement (anti-government protests) has died down, losing support after vandalism. In other words, the popular support for these demonstrations that reached more than 90 percent in June of last year, today its disapproval is proportional."
But problems away from home are also a major concern for the Brazilians...
SOUNDBITE (Portuguese) Anderson Bichara, federal police commander:
"In Brazil's case, even if we are not targets of terrorism, Brazil can become the stage for terrorism. It's a threat we cannot discard."
The World Cup will likely be seen as a success for the police and security forces if no one is talking about them afterwards.
