  • Intro:

Reigning World Cup champions Spain are preparing to face El Salvador in Washington DC in their final warm-up game prior to the 2014 tournament in Brazil.

    Script:

They're looking to create history by becoming the first nation since Brazil in 1962 to successfully defend the FIFA World Cup.

But before that, world and European champions Spain face El Salvador in Washington in their final warm-up game.

One of the key talking points as Vicente Del Bosque's side trained at RFK Stadium was Brazilian-born striker Diego Costa, who has passed a medical to join Chelsea from Atletico Madrid in a deal reportedly worth 32 million pounds.

16 of Spain's 23-man squad have remained from four years ago, when La Roja won the World Cup for the very first time.

Opponents in the final in 2010 in South Africa were the Netherlands.

The two sides will renew their rivalry earlier than expected when they meet in Group B's opening game on June 13th in Salvador.

That's before further matches against Chile and Australia.
