Germany prepared for their final World Cup warm-up game against Armenia at the Coface Arena in Mainz on Thursday.

The training session was their last on home soil before travelling to the tournament in Brazil.

Manager Joachim Low raised eyebrows when he selected veteran Miroslav Klose as the only recognised striker in his final 23-man squad.

Low defended his decision by citing the fact that the role of the all-out striker has changed in recent years, and that Germany have plenty of attack-minded midfielders to compensate.

The German Football Association, or DFB, has arranged the friendly match with Armenia not only as an opportunity for the team to prepare for the upcoming tournament, but as a designated 'international benefit match.'

The match is expected to raise 4.5 million euros for the DFB's three charitable foundations - the Sepp Herberger Foundation, Egidius Braun Foundation and DFB Cultural Foundation.

The scheme has now raised 32 million euros for the three worthy causes, with DFB President Wolfgang Niersbach indicating that the money can also be used to "focus" on social issues during the World Cup finals in Brazil.

Germany are in Group G, along with Ghana, the United States and Portugal, the latter of which they will face in their opening fixture in Salvador on the 16th of June.
