With just a few days to go to the start of football's World Cup, the spirit of Brazil 2014 has spread around South America.

In Peru, prison inmates and some of the nation's former internationals went 'head-to-head' on Monday in a tournament in the capital.

The tournament was held in the grounds of Miguel Castro Castro, a maximum security prison in Lima and was designed to build morale and promote rehabilitation.

The prison yards were given the names of real stadiums in Brazil.

Miguel Castro Castro prison yard was renamed the Maracana stadium for the day, after the main World Cup venue in Rio de Janeiro.

The teams played for the chance to win a trophy - a recreation of the famous gold World Cup trophy.

Participating inmates wore Brazilian jerseys, which they made themselves in workshops held at the prison.

Hector Chumpitaz, who played more than 100 times for his country in a 16-year international career, led the team of former footballers and lifted a replica of the FIFA World Cup trophy in celebration at the end of the tournament.
