Wilkinson: Toulon experience is 'priceless'

Sunday, June 01 2014 by SNTV
  • Intro:

Jonny Wilkinson, 35, ended his career by helping Toulon to the French title with victory over Castres in Paris. The former England fly-half, 35, kicked all but three of his side's points in an 18-10 victory in the Top 14 final on Saturday.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE (English) Jonny Wilkinson, RC Toulon fly-half (on his experience at Toulon):

"It's not about this kind of being paid thing. It's not about the mercenary angle that people have thrown at Toulon for a while. It's not about that. It's just about getting together, adding your experience from wherever you've come, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, France, England, Ireland, Wales, whatever, and just saying, 'look, we really really really care about this.' And whether or not you're being paid or not, it doesn't matter. You can't pay someone enough to throw the body into areas where it's really gonna hurt, you know. And these guys do it because they just want to do well. They do want to well for each other and when you say that it includes the supporters as well."
