On a wet day in Shanghai, the Chinese Super League saw a derby between Shanghai East Asia and Shanghai Greenland Shenhua.

Shanghai East Asia were looking to move closer to the top of the table and almost opened the scoring early on.

Wu Lei's shot well stopped by Geng Xiaofeng.

In the 22nd minute, East Asia's Australian striker Daniel McBreen unleashed a spectacular stike that left Geng with no chance and gave the hosts a 1-0 lead.

An effort well worth a second look.

Shenhau levelled in the 36th minute when Xu Liang's free kick bounced straight through the entire East Asia defence and surprising all as it ended up in the back of the net.

East Asia came close to regaining the lead when McBreen tried to out-do his earlier effort as he attempted a looping shot that nearly beat Geng.

The final minutes of the game took an unsavoury turn, the home side's Yang Shiyuan lunged into Shenhua skipper Giovanni Moreno with a terrible tackle.

Shiyuan was immediately sent off, while Bai Jiajun's reaction in the ensuing scuffle meant he saw red as well.

The result leaves Shanghai East Asia on 15 points, six back of leaders Guangzhou Evergrande.

Shanghai Greenland Shenhua are on nine after a third draw in their last five matches.
