A radio station in Spain had previously reported that Vilanova checked into the hospital after suffering gastric complications.
The former Barcelona boss was originally diagnosed with cancer in late 2011, when he was an assistant to then coach Pep Guardiola.
And Vilanova won last season's La Liga title with Barcelona, but was forced to step down in the summer, after suffering a relapse of the disease.
