Having both won their opening Group 4 games, Atletico Mineiro and Santa Fe met in the Copa Libertadores on Wednesday.
After a quiet first half, just seconds before half-time, Mineiro were given the edge.
Santa Fe forward Wilder Medina clashed into Nicolas Otamendi and was immediately sent off by the referee.
It was, though, the depleted Colombian team that scored first.
Omar Perez let fly from long range on the hour mark giving the 10 men of Santa Fe a 1-0 lead.
The Brazilian side were level just two minutes later, though.
Substitute Guilherme played a perfectly-weighted pass for Jo who slid the ball past 'keeper Camilo Vargas.
Mineiro snatched all three points with just under four minutes left - another substitute, Neto Berola, with the acrobatic finish following Marcos Rocha's long throw.
Paulo Autuori's side now have six points heading into Match Day 3, while Santa Fe sit on three with Nacional of Paraguay.
