Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal hosted Al Ahli of the UAE in Group D of the Asian Champions League on Wednesday.

After a lacklustre first half, Al Hilal missed a great chance to take the lead with only five minutes remaining. Nasser Al Shamrani somehow managing to miss a sitter from inside the six-yard box.

Al Hilal started the second half on the front foot, but it was Al Ahli who took the lead in the 53rd minute, Luis Jimenez latching onto Brazilian forward Ciel's excellent flick to make it 1-0.

Five minutes later, Al Ahli looked to have wrapped up the match, another stunning breakaway move ending with Jimenez crossing for Grafite to side foot into the roof of the net.

Al Hilal were thrown a lifeline when Al Shamrani made up for his first-half miss with a firm header from a corner.

The goal lifted the crowd and with 15 minutes left Al Shamrani levelled the match with another close range finish after Digao's header was saved.

The hosts almost snatched the win when Yousef Al Salem hit the post three minutes from time.

However, the matched ended Al Hilal 2, Al Ahli 2.
