  • Intro:

A goal up within 50 seconds, Club Brugge went on to thrash OH Leuven 5-2 in the Belgian Pro League on Sunday (February 23rd).

    Script:

Club Brugge, lying second, were looking to stay in touch with the leaders Standard Liege at the top of the Belgian Pro League at OH Leuven on Sunday.

And it was looking like going to plan after just 43 seconds. Thomas Meunier putting the visitors ahead.

It was 2-nil in the 21st minute, sloppy defending allowing Israeli international Lior Refaelov to slot past keeper.

It was 3-nil in the 52nd minute, some intricate play down the right flank setup up Jasper Jorgensen whose weak effort couldn't be kept by Bailly.

But the keeper couldn't do much about the fourth, even if it was at Bailly's near post. Tom de Sutter's thunderous shot making it 4-0.

A mini-fightback by the hosts lifted some of the gloom that had descended - Jovan Kostovski made it 4-1 in the 70th minute.

And in the 78th minute it was 4-2 thanks to Romain Reynaud's header.

However, any chance of a comeback was halted when Maxime Lestienne's made it 5-2 in the 81st minute.

5-2 the final score. Brugge now lie 9 points off Liege who play later on Sunday.
