Ajax return to form with thumping 4-0 win over Alkmaar

    Dutch Eredivisie leaders Ajax thrashed AZ Alkmaar 4-0 on Sunday (23rd February).

    Script:

    After three nil thrashing in the Europa League on Thursday, Ajax were looking for a swift return to form when they entertained seventh placed AZ Alkmaar.

    It took Frank de Boer's men less than four minutes to make the breakthrough via their captain, Siem de Jong.

    Markus Henriksen had a good effort for the visitors in the 16th minute saved by Jasper Cillessen.

    However, it was the hosts who got the crucial second. It came in the 54th minute after de Jong's clever backheel released Lerin Duarte.

    On as a half-time substitute, 19-year-old Ricardo Kishna scored on his Eredivisie debut from what seemd an impossible angle.

    And Duarte's thumping finish completed the 4-0 scoreline in the 74th minute.

    With Twente being held by Feyenoord, Frank de Boer's men now lead the table by six points.
