Anderlecht's slip up on Saturday gave Club Brugge the chance to move above them into second place in the Belgian Pro League. They started well at Genk. Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe will wonder how his effort came back off the bar. Tom de Sutter's header was then wonderfully saved by Genk goalkeeper Laszlo Koteles.
20 minutes later Brugge were rueing those missed opportunities as 18-year-old Pieter Gerkens volleyed in the opening goal. A very sweet strike for your very first goal in professional football.
But with just a minute to go of the first half, Brugge levelled, the ball found its way to Odjidja-Ofoe and he swept it into the bottom corner.
There was another gift from Genk in the second half, this time they failed to clear a corner and Bjorn Engels pounced to put Brugge in front.
The home side then chased an equaliser but in added time Brugge hit them on the break with new 3m euro signing Nicolas Castillo, the Chilean scoring on his debut to seal the points, some start.
