Aragonés died on Saturday at the age of 75. He guided Spain to their first major trophy at an international tournament in 44 years with victory in the 2008 European Championship. Stars from that team -- including Carles Puyol, Xavi Hernández and Andres Iniesta -- paid their respects.

Andoni Zubizarreta played under Aragonés at Barcelona during the 1987-1988 season and the Catalan club's technical director described his former coach as a 'great man':

"Luis was one of those guys that made it difficult for the rest of us to show him affection because most times he would reply with a grunt but that was his way to show affection back. It always happens to those of us who are alive that we do not show enough affection to the ones we love and I think we owe a great debt to Luis regarding that. For me, the man I met was greater than just the coach who made us succeed".

Atlético Madrid president Enrique Cerezo attended the ceremony for Aragonés, who won three La Liga titles, two Spanish Cups and the Pichichi Trophy for being the league's top scorer in 1970 with The Mattress Makers.
