With FIFA imposing a deadline of February 18th to see if Curitiba can continue to play host to the World Cup, authorities responsible for the Arena da Baixada still have a lot of work to do.

And new footage shot from an unmanned drone, controlled by graphic designer Marcelo Araujo, five days ago shows just how delayed the venue is.

The stadium has only half of its grass installed and part of the roof is unfinished. Only a small area of seats can been in the stands.

Those responsible for remodelling and refurbishing the venue have extra difficulties as it's located in a residential area, meaning they can't work through the night. The drone footage also shows no people working at stadium.

Brazilian authorities say the pace of construction has improved significantly and are optimistic the southern city will still be able to host games.

A local government commission monitoring the work is expected to issue a report next week, but a city official told sntv he does not think there will be a reason to drop the host city.

Curitiba Urban Planning Secretary Reginaldo Cordeiro says "work is progressing" satisfactorily at the Arena da Baixada.

FIFA said local officials have until February 18th to show the city will be able to finish the stadium in time for the World Cup in June. Football's governing body will make its own evaluation to decide whether to keep games in Curitiba.
