Intro:
Two goals by Michy Batshuayi helped Belgian Pro League leaders Standard Liège win 4-0 against Cercle Brugge at the Stade Maurice-Dufrasne on Saturday. The Reds are now ten points clear at the top of the table.
Script:
Standard Liège took on Cercle Brugge hoping to extend their lead at the Belgian Pro League's summit after second-placed Anderlecht's shock defeat to lowly Lierse yesterday.
Julien De Sart handed the home side the perfect start when his cross was fired in by Michy Batshuayi.
The 20-year-old was linked with a Premier League move last month.
The West Bank may be at the centre of a media storm but Standard boss Guy Luzon of Israel was at peace.
Cercle may have been pleased to only be 1-0 down going into half time but such optimism was dashed when Ismaïla N'Diaye was shown a straight red card despite winning the ball.
After the break, Standard took their numerical advantage literally when they doubled their lead through Imoh Ezekiel.
Reduced to ten men, the gaps soon appeared in the Cercle defence and Paul-José M'Poku found Batshuayi in expanses of space for his 15 goal this season, the league's highest,
Cercle's Stef Wils then brought down De Sart, enabled M'Poku to cap a 4-0 thrashing.
