SOUNDBITE: (Spanish) Mario Fernandez, Racing Santander captain: "The employees of Racing de Santander Football Club, want to give notice, in front of the fans, media and club partners, of the following conditions: As is known through the media, we have not been paid for a few months, in contrast to the president's promises. This fact, has led to a difficult economic situation for some members of the club. The consequence is that we ask for the resignation of the president and members of Racing's administration. The recent departure of players has decreased the team's potential, in addition to a reducing sporting possibilities. The lack of response from the administration board, the difficult economic situation we are involved in and this latest development, has led us to take a unanimous resolution where we ask for the resignation of the president and the entire administration board. Should this not take place in the next hours, the players announce, in an irrevocable manner, our decision not to play the upcoming Copa del Rey quarter-final match. We hope that this decision, taken only due to the critical circumstances for us and for the club, will be supported by the fans, to whom we show our respect and gratitude, at the same time as we ask them to support us in this difficult moment."
