Script:
Mid-table Xanthi hosted runaway Greek Super League leaders Olympiakos on Sunday.
The visitors had the best of the opening stages but some sloppy defending almost gifted Xanthi a goal after 18 minutes and PanagiotisTriadis was inches away from giving his side the lead.
However five minutes later it was Olympiakos who went ahead, Nigerian forward Michael Olaitan prodding home from close in after Xanthi failed to clear a corner.
Just after the restart Xanthi were reduced to ten men when Julian de Guzman, who was on a yellow, stupidly handled in midfield for a second yellow and an early bath.
In the 72nd minute though Jose Holebas of Olympiakos made it an even game again when he was given a straight red after he lashed out at Xanthi's Karim Soltani.
With time running out the hosts almost equalised but Petros Mandalos's effort, which looked for all the world to be hitting the back of the net, went narrowly wide.
Yet, Olympiakos made the game safe two minutes later when ArgentineAriel Ibagaza had the simplest of tasks at the far post after good work on the right by Olaitan.
The visitors' two-nil win means they re-establish their 11-point lead at the top of the table over PAOK.
