PSV Eindhoven beat AZ 1-0 on Saturday to move above their visitors and into sixth place in the Dutch Eredivisie standings.

    Script:

PSV and AZ met in the Eredivisie with both hoping to turn around a season to forget.

The home side made the perfect start, taking the lead just three minutes into the game.

Former Manchester United player Park Ji-Sung saw his shot from the rebound blocked by Viktor Elm, but Jetro Willems made sure the home side took the lead.

Jan Wuytens went close to scoring a spectacular equaliser in the 12th minute, only to see his back-heeled volley hit the post.

Park, who is on loan from Queens Park Rangers, looked to double PSV's lead just after the half hour mark but AZ 'keeper Esteban Alvarado had other ideas and produced a great save.

Jeroen Zoet was then called into action five minutes later, diving to turn a Johann Berg Gudmundsson past his right-hand post.

And the two keepers continued to frustrate the opposition - Alvarado saving seven minutes into the second half from Adam Maher's effort.

AZ almost stole a point with the final kick of the game, but Markus Henriksen's shot from just inside the penalty area was narrowly kept out by Zoet, who sealed a 1-0 win for PSV.
