Tuesday, January 21 2014 by SNTV
  • Intro:

Jerome Champagne announced his candidacy for the FIFA Presidential elections in London. Champagne called for improved governance from FIFA but refused to comment on whether he would stand against the current President Sepp Blatter. He also advocated the introduction of an orange card and sin bins in the sport.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE: (English) Jerome Champagne, FIFA Presidential candidate (on whether he'll stand against incumbent President Sepp Blatter):

"I can only repeat what I said in the press conference earlier, for the moment, I am the only candidate which has declared and I will not answer hypothetical questions - life is full of evolutions. Definitely I cannot answer what will happen because everyone is asking me whether I will stand if Mr Blatter is standing, but no one is asking me what if others stand. I don't answer hypothetical questions."
