The World Cup starts in less than five months time, but cracks continue to show in hosting the tournament in Brazil. Stadiums are yet to be completed, and fan violence continues to grab the headlines.

Just over a month since a match between Atletico Paranaense and Vasco da Gama was halted due to crowd trouble, once again the game had to be stopped due to fighting in the stands.

At the encounter between Botafogo and Sport Recife a small line of police separated supporters from both teams, who were situated in the same part of the ground.

Police had to use pepper spray to try to stop the fans but the wind blew the gas on to the pitch, affecting Sport Recife players and interrupting the game.

The brawl broke out in the 57th minute according to reports, just after Sport Recife had equalised and Botafogo striker Frontini was sent off.

Police said the fighting started after Sport Recife fans started to throw stones over the law enforcement officials at Botafogo supporters.
