The annual general assembly of the Spanish Professional Football League (LFP) took place on Tuesday (30th July) in the Spanish city of Barcelona.

SOUNDBITE: (Spanish) Javier Gomez, corporate general director of the Spanish League
"The Spanish Football League (LFP) has recently approved a new economic control named 'a priori control'. And the difference with UEFA's 'financial fair play' is that this is set before the beginning of each season. There is a set of criteria applied to the clubs that limits the amount of money they can spend in acquiring players throughout the season."

SOUNDBITE: (Spanish) Javier Tebas, president of LFP
"We keep fighting against match fixing. This is a very important cause. We can't stumble along the way. And we will fight it until the end. We are talking about seven or eight games every season. But it inflicts a lot of damage to the competition."

SOUNDBITE: (Spanish) Gabriel Cerda, president of Mallorca CF
"I think is insulting that in the same league we have a few 'lords' getting such bigger shares. We can see in Germany, England or Italy that even though there are obvious differences between big and smaller teams, they are not as large as here."
