The high scoring contest began when Hussein Awada scored for Al-Ahed in the 34th minute.

In the early stages of the second half, Al-Safa restored parity with Amer Khan's unopposed headed goal in the 49th minute.

Five minutes later Al-Safa grabbed the lead - this time it was Ali al-Saade's glancing header at the near post that produced the dividends.

In the 77th minute, Al-Ahed got back onto level terms when Ali Bazz scored with a headed goal from a free kick to make it 2-apiece.

In the first period of extra time - Abo Ateeq scored for Al-Ahed to give his side the 3-2 lead.

Al-Safa took a long range shot that was fumbled by the Al-Ahed keeper which allowed Ngwu Samuel Uchenna to pounce on the loose ball and score the equaliser to send the match into a penalty shootout.

Al-Safa defeated Al-Ahed 3-2 in the shootout with the Safa goalkeeper Samad saving Abbas Kanaan's effort to secure their path to the quarterfinals.
