"It is very important for the club to have reached the final of the Copa Libertadores. We all wanted to win that final, we have fought in the league and we won the cup of Argentina. Unfortunately the day we lost the cup final - we also lost our idol, who decided he had given many things to the club and it was his last game for Boca."

"The supporters are fanatics. They want to see the players that gave them happiness play for a long time. They want to enjoy their players forever. Sometimes there are players who can no longer play and fans know they can not play anymore but still they ask for them because of all the joys they have given to them. I did not want to keep playing because I wanted the fans to remember me playing well."

"I will now go on vacation but I still don't know that I'm going to do. I really don't know. The truth is that I made the decision after much thought. I thought it was the best to do. We can agree that it took too much time but what happened has happened. Now we must look to the future and we will see what I choose to do"
