Wednesday, June 20 2012 by SNTV
  • Intro:

New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter and manager Joe Girardi reacted to the Roger Clemens trial verdict on Monday at Yankee Stadium.

    Script:

    1. SOUNDBITE: (English) Derek Jeter, New York Yankees Shortstop:

(On what Clemens' acquittal means). "Well I think it means a lot for him, first and foremost, that's an important thing. I think it's great for the game and we can stop talking about it now. You know what I mean, I mean this is something that's been going on for a long time. And I'm glad that it's over with and I'm pretty sure baseball fans are going to be happy it's over with."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Joe Girardi, New York Yankees Manager:

(On verdict helping to put steroid era in the past). "Well, I think, you know, we get all these trials out of the way and we move on. I think it does because it seems like every time someone was brought up, you know, before a grand jury or went on trial, it focused on what was going on in the last ten, fifteen years. And now it seems like we're beyond them and we can focus on what's going to happen the next ten years."
