The third day of action at the IRB Junior World Championships on Tuesday (June 12th) was a dramatic one as host nation South Africa ended England's tournament.

England opened the scoring thanks to an impressive penalty kick from inside his own half by Tom Heathcote.

However the English were unable to capitalise and South Africa hit back after the break when captain William Small-Smith broke through to score the host nation's first try of the game.

Shaun Adendorff capped off an impressive 28-15 victory for the South Africans 20 minutes later with the game's final try.

Earlier in the day Ireland thumped Italy 41-12 - the highlight for the Irish was Luke McGrath's stunning solo try in the second half.

England weren't the only big nation to exit at the group stage after France swept aside Australia 31-7.

France's Bastian Fauster finishing off a great team try that began in their own half.

Meanwhile, New Zealand will have a chance to avenge a first defeat in the history of the junior world rugby championship after beating Fiji 33-12 - the Kiwis will meet Wales again in the semi finals.

New Zealand, the only winner of the event since it began in 2008, lost to Wales 9-6 on Friday, bringing to an end a 21-match unbeaten run.
